Show Weather and Training Reported Okeh By Army Men In California By CORP. SPENCER TRUMAN CAMP SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. We are happy to inform you that the past week has been good as far as the weather and the training has been concerned. It has only showered once all week. This is very unusual for this part of the country. Then men are beginning be-ginning to think this country may be pretty good after all. It has been rather cool at nights but quite warm in the day time. The men have had some good experience the last week. Each company in the regiment as part of their schedule had to build a three-span bridge in an allotted time. Company "C" was the only company in the regiment to complete com-plete its bridge in the given time. Our bridge was longer, built out of heavier timber and all timber had to be hauled in. The company was highly complimented by the officers for its good work. The rest of the week was spent in building obstacles and field fortifications. Friday afternoon after-noon each man was given an intelligence in-telligence and aptitude test by divisional di-visional headquarters; the reason for this test was to secure information in-formation as to what part of the service - the man would be best suited. Over the week-end Company "C" had some most welcome visitors vis-itors from home. They were Mrs. Clarence Moss, Mrs. Earl Cannon, Mrs. Grant B. Harris, Miss Le-Nore Le-Nore Hafen and Miss Ruby Seeg-miller. Seeg-miller. It was surely good to see someone from home. We hope they keep coming. During the past week there have been quite a few of the men down with colds. Sergeant Crosby and Pvt. Wayne Worthen are still confined to the hospital but we expect them back very shortly. Pvt. Adrian Bunting and Pvt. Leo Holt have both returned to quarters quar-ters but Corp. Clarence Ward was taken to the hospital Sunday. The reason for so much sickness among the men was the previous rain storm we had. Company "C" drew the regimental regi-mental guard again Sunday night. On these guards there are one Sergeant, three Corporals and twenty-seven Privates. The men don't feel so bad about this guard for it is the first one we have had when it hasn't been raining. All in all the men are enjoying their work quite well. |
