Show Many Utah Pilots Expected At Airport Dedication Public Invited To Attend Dance In New Hangar And Contests for Pilots Just a trifle over one week remains re-mains until St. George will be in the midst of a spectacular celebration cele-bration connected with dedication of the hillside airport. On this occasion St. George expects to be host to Utah officials as well as pilots and their friends from all parts of Utah. The program will begin at 6:30 p. m., Saturday, May 10, when the visitors will be feted at a banquet, ban-quet, to be followed at 8 p. m., with a dance on the hangar floor. Regular tickets will be charged for this event, and everyone is invited to attend. Beginning at 9 a. m., Sunday, May 11, there will be a variety of competitive events connected with aviation including spot landing land-ing for private pilots .with three prizes offered. At 10 a. m., there will be competitive bomb dropping drop-ping from the air, an event open to both private and commercial pilots, also with three prizes. And at 11 a. m., there will be the ribbon rib-bon cutting contest with three (Continued on page eight) . . o Airport Dedication (Continued from first page) prizes. Many entrants are anticipated antici-pated in each of the events. Lee Owens, airport manager states that more and more letters are being received daily for Airmailing Air-mailing on this eventful day. Special Spe-cial stamps commemorative of the event will be used in mailing these letters which are to go to all parts of the United States. More are being added each day. All who are interested should have their letters ready so they can be stamped and leave from the Dixie airport on the official date, May 11, Manager Owens also states that a small charge will be made for those attending the Sunday morning morn-ing events. This will be very nominal and is being made only to assist with the expense of the prizes given for the events. Rates for families or car loads will be made. People are urged to advise their friends of this coming event and to invite them to in attendance. No other place has such a unique airport and not other place goes to greater effort to entertain the visitors for such an event. |
