Tanner Tan-ner and granddaughter, Arva Broadhead visited in St. George over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Claud Thompson, enroute home to Blackfoot, Idaho, from vacationing in California. Mr. Tanner, 84 year old father of Mrs. Thompson, is in vigorous health and has enjoyed the coast trip immensely, he states. Marilyn Arns, granddaughter of the Thompsons is here from Cedar City to spend the week visiting. Mrs. Howard Judd is leaving for L.D.S. conference in Salt Lake City, accompanied by Mrs. Jos. W. Prince and daughter, Ro-laine, Ro-laine, Mrs. R. C. Lund and daughter, daugh-ter, Renee, and Mrs. Earl Cannon, as delegates of the primary and M.I.A. organizations. Mrs. MeMn Hamilton entertained enter-tained 30 children at a lawn party last Saturday honoring their son, Spencer's sixth anniversary. Mrs. Vivien Woodbury left this (Thursday) morning for Las Vegas and from there will be accompanied by Dr. Clair W. Woodbury to Los Angeles to attend at-tend the graduation of her other son, Howard, from dental college. col-lege. Andrew Pace returned home on Sunday from Tucson, Ariz, where he has been studying law during the past winter. He is reported as recovering very satisfactorily from his recent automobile accident. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Nisson left Wednesday morning for Yellowstone National Park where they will be employed during the summer. They were accompanied as far as Salt Lake City by Mrs. Ethel Walker who has spent the past 10 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. N. Ashby. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mrs. Ella Perkins has been visiting in St. George the past 10 days, from Overton, Nev., a guest of Mrs. Rosina Blake. Mrs. Charles W. Seegmiller Jr. was hostess June 1 to members of the Saturday night bridge club, honors going to Mishie Seegmiller and Marge Vance. Melba Levanger of Glendale, Utah, who has been visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Charlotte V. Atkin, returned home Monday. Fawn Schmutz and Elaine Hafen returned Saturday from Logan where they have been attending at-tending the U.S.A.C. LeRay Pratt, Dixie college student, stu-dent, now employed with the Dixie Consumers, visited his parents in Hinckley, Utah, Thursday Thurs-day over Sunday. Miss Adelia Hall, who attended the U. of U. the past year, visited in St. George Saturday before going on to Pine Valley to join her parents, Mr. and "Mrs. Orson Hall. Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Baker, son Levell, and daughter Vyonne, motored down from Minersville Saturday to attend Temple sessions ses-sions and visit their father. Henry Baker and other relatives. Their mother, Mrs. Henry Baker returned re-turned with them, having spent a week in Minersville with them and with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker, who spent the previous week in St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Don G. Hansen and daughter, Amy Lucile, a friend, Lois Vance, all of Lakeside. Ariz, and Mrs. Hansen's father, George M. Fryer, of Mesa, Ariz., were St. George visitors Saturday enroute to Toquerville to visit relatives. Mr. Fryer is making his first visit back to his Toquerville birthplace in more than 60 years, having moved to Arizona when a young boy. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Ceradsky and son, Kenneth, and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Norton left last Thursday Thurs-day to seek new locations. They planned to visit points in California Califor-nia and on up the Pacific coast with the idea of settling in Oregon. Mrs. Milton Burgess and daugh-j ter, -Bonita, left last Thursday for Legan to attend the graduation of Miss Audrey Burgess from the j U.S.A.C. and who has been era- j joloyed at teaching in high school . since January. The Swift Stitchers 4-H club held their first meeting to elect their officers on Wednesday, May 29. The following officers were elected: Edna Mae Miller, president; presi-dent; Virginia Klenk, vice-president; Vivian Snow, secretary and treasurer; Dawn Andrus, song and cheer leader; Jessie Jane Gibbons, reporter and Shirley Nazer and Francis Bransen as amusement committee. Plans were made for 1 the coming meetings and all members mem-bers are ready for a bigger and better summer. Our first project for this summer will begin next Wednesday. A dinner was held at the Riding home on Sunday, May 26, for John H. Riding on his seventieth anniversary. Bert, Arthur, and William E. Riding and Mrs. Vida Duncan,, all children of Mr. Riding were present with their families. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Larkin left this (Thursday) morning for Salt Lake City where they will attend conference. They were accompanied ac-companied by Miss Uarda Grey and Junior Larkin, who they are taking to their homes in Willard, Utah. They have been here this winter attending school. Ralph McAllister of Salina arrived ar-rived in St. George Wednesday to visit his mother, Mrs. Agatha W. McAllister. Mr. and Mrs. John Whipple and Miss Evelyn Nelson left Sunday for Ely, Nev. where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Best, parents of Alva Best of this city, left for their home in Cincinnatti, Ohio, Sunday. Mr. Best took them by auto through the parks and as far as Flagstaff, Ariz. They have spent the past eight months with their children in St. George. Mrs. Owen Wright of Hurricane Hurri-cane ;under went surgery in the local hospital June 3. 'v David Timothy, father of Mrs. Donald Schmutz left Tuesday evening eve-ning for Salt Lake City where he plans to spend a month before going on to Uintah for the balance of the summer. The T.A.R. club members were guests Wednesday evening of Mrs. Helen "Bleak at the home of her' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Pearce and LaVera Tobler. Mrs. Fenton Gray returned to Cedar City Thursday after a week's visit with relatives here. Devorah Whitehead, Gertrude Frehner and Mary Jarvis were co-hostesses co-hostesses at the Jarvis home last Friday evening to members of their literary sewing circle. While other members sewed, Miss Whitehead White-head reviewed "With Malice Toward To-ward Some" by Margaret Halsey. Miss "Vella Luke is spending her vacation with friends in St. George. Triple-K club members were guests Wednesday evening of Mrs. Reed Graff at the Graff home. Contract bridge was the diversion, Mrs. Athe Meeks and Mrs. Clyde McQuaid sharing high score honors and .consolation going to Mrs. Duke Sutton. Special guests were Mrs. Meeks and Mrs. Cecil Frei of Santa Clara. Refreshments were served to 16. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Cannon left Wednesday for Salt Lake City to attend -conference. Mayor D. C. Watson and Coun-cilmen Coun-cilmen Mathew M. Bentley, Joseph T. Atkin and Clair S. Terry, returned Wednesday from a business trip through northern Utah. They report having gained helpful information in connection with inspection of projects in other cities which they visited. Ted Simmons hase returned home for the summer after attending at-tending school at the U. of U. Mr. and Mrs. W. Tell Gubler and three children of La Verkin, motored to St. George last Saturday Satur-day taking Mrs. Gubler's mother, Mrs. A. W. Gregerson home with them to visit for 10 days. LaVerd Whitehead, Phoebe Lytle and Rhoda Cannon return ed over the week end from the U.S.A.C, Logan. Miss Cannon is returning this week for summer sessions at the college. Miss Meta Spiess returned Sunday Sun-day evening from a brief visit with relatives in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Albert Anderson and Mrs. Melvin Hamilton united in entertaining enter-taining 35 associate missionary friends and other guests at the Hamilton home last Thursday evening. eve-ning.
