Show Dixie F.F.A. Chapter Members Take Nine Day Trip Through Yellowstone Park and Way Points The Dixie Chapter of Future Farmers Far-mers of America returned Tuesday Tues-day night, June 5, from a nine day trip to Yellowstone National Park. Twenty-eight . boys with their supervisor, Wayne Hinton, and four other men, B. Glen Smith and parents, Moroni McArthur, Everett Syphus and Walter Stout made the trip. Mr. Stout of Hurricane Hur-ricane took the party in his truck. The group left Monday, May 27, and drove 494 miles by way of Brigham City and Malad, Idaho. The next day they leisurely drove across Idaho admiring farms and mountain scenery as they approached ap-proached Yellowstone which was reached by 6 p.m., camp was pitched at Geyser Basin. Wednes- day a 120 mile drive of the scenic wonders of Yellowstone was made. Stops were made at the Mud Pots, Yellowstone Falls, Mammoth Hot Springs and numerous other places. Thursday was spent fishing in Yellowstone lake. The best anyone any-one could do was three fish. Friday Fri-day was spent at Teton National Park on beautiful Jenny's lake. Bears raided grub boxes in both parks. Saturday the group camped on Bear Lake and Sunday returned re-turned to Salt Lake City. Monday was spent looking over the livestock at the Intermountain Junior Livestock show at North Salt Lake. Some 1,600 of the finest beef, sheep and hogs of the intermountain country were on exhibit. A tour was made through the packing plant where meat processing pro-cessing was watched from the time of kill until it is ready for shipment. Tuesday the boys left for home, stopping at Provo for a tour of the mental hospital and arriving home at 11 p.m. All of the boys report a fine and educational trip. |
