Show Pine Valley Holds Pioneer Day Celebration PINE VALLEY, Utah July 24 was fittingly celebrated here, the day was enjoyed by a large number num-ber of visitors as well as our townspeople. Due to the indefinite postponement of the annual stake day, this was the first time in a number of years that we have held a celebration just for our town. The celebration began with a salute to the day at dawn, the next item was a sunrise serenade by a group of young people during which the flag was raised. At 10.30 the following program was given in the church: community singing, "Come. Come, Ye Saints"; prayer by Chaplain Walter Jef-fery; Jef-fery; ladies' quartet, under the direction of Mrs. Rex Gardner: reading. "Gunga Din", by Jack Rencher; piano solo, by Ora Lea Gardner: speech on pioneers and pioneering by N. Pc. Frei; solo by Miss Maurine Gardner; duet, by Valry Snow and Beth Baldwin; community singing, O Ye Mountains Moun-tains High". The afternoon was spent in competitive sports on the public square and in the evening Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Baldwin Bald-win entertained at a party. |
