Mrs. Wilson's son, the only other passenger with her, had numerous cuts and bruises, as did his mother. Papke suffered a chest injury, had an eye cut and numerous minor bruises. Melons Smashed . Between five and six tons of watermelons were smashed when the truck driven by Walter Blotter, Blot-ter, 25, of Logan, left the road about a mile this side of the Castle Cliff station. An investigation investi-gation by Sheriff Prince revealed that Blotter went to sleep at the wheel. It was necessary to cut part of the cab away in order to release Blotter. The truck was not badly damaged. Blinded by lights of an oncoming on-coming car, Douglas Prince, son of William Prince of this city, crashed into guard rails about a mile this side of the Santa Clara checking station at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Mr. Prince was returning from Ivins when lights of the car blinded him, causing him to hit the guard rails. He escaped with slight injuries, but the car was damaged. |
