Show Gas Thieves Arrested By Sheriff's Office During Past Week Two boys from North Dakota were caught with 30 gallons of stolen gasoline in their possession by Sheriff Antone B. Prince and Patrolman Otto Fife early Thursday Thurs-day morning, July 20, near Santa Clara. Warning that the gasoline was being stolen was telephoned by Mrs. Lorin Reber. On receiving the call at 3 a.m. Sheriff Prince went to the checking check-ing station where Patrolman Fife joined him. As they went down the road they saw a car pull off the road and shut off its lights. They hailed the car and on investigating in-vestigating found the boys had the gasoline in the car. They had drained four cars. They were arraigned before George F. Whitehead, justice of; the peace, and pled guilty to the charge. They were sentenced to a $50 fine or 25 days in jail. They are now serving their term. Leeds Boys Caught Three Leeds boys were caught arrested, and pled guilty to the theft of gasoline from a state truck. Word that the gasoline had been stolen came to Sheriff Prince by telephone from Anderson's Ranch. He called Patrolman Marion Snow and the two officers made the investigation. Sheriff Prince recognized the markings left by the tires of the car and the foot prints of one of the boys. Bail was set at $100 which the boys raised. |
