Show Ute cagers pocket honors Two Uintah Utes, Mike Johnson, center, and Brian McNamara, forward, were named to all region teams by the Deseret News Monday. Johnson was selected as a member of Region 7's first team and McNamara was named to the Region 7 second team. Other members of the teams are: first team, Dean Lott, Provo; Byron Vaetoe, Mountain View; Dale McCann, Orem; Kyle Hardman, American Fork and second team. Matt Brown, Mountain View; Greg Nord, Timpview; Kevin Santiago, Provo, and Gary Cooper, Mountain View. Nabbing Class 3-A all-state honors were: Mark Duran, South, 6 foot guard, most valuable player; Nate Grant, West, 6'2" guard; Alan Raymond, Logan, 6'4" guard; Alan Pollard, Mountain Moun-tain View, 6'9" forward; Carl Pollard, Mountain View, 7'2" center; and Paul Gardner, 6'3" forward. Duane Johnson. Provo; Duncan Miles, West; Randy Wyatt, Dixie; Danny McEntire, Jordan; Jor-dan; Paul Sagers, Timpview and Dave McGinn, Orem, were named to the second se-cond team. Dean Townsend, Union, was named to the first place team in Region 9 and Cory Dye, Union, captured second team honors in Region 9. Trent Grant, Duchesne, pocketed first team honors in the Class 1-A. Grant is a 5'11" guard. Other members of the Class 1-A first team are: Wayne Jones, Valley, 6'5" forward, most valuable player; Steve Bruce, Dugway, 5'7" guard; Donnv Leach, Panguitch. 6'4" center; Mark Ackerman, South Rich, 5'10" guard and David Warren, Gunnison, 6'1" forward. Lindon Hansen, Altamont; Kirk Bailey, Duchesne; Travis Fabrizio, Tabiona and Wayne Miles, Altamont, netted first team honors in Region 13. |
