Nuttall placed first in the bars and acquired second place in the all-around.. . Verraeal engages in close encounver Two Vernal Junior High Panthers and two West Junior High Vikings collected first places in a gymnastics meet at Uintah High School, Thursday. Shelly Morris of Vernal pocketed first place in the floor exercise with a score of 8.0. Two judges awarded her 8.0 tallies. West's Kaelynne Spencer, placed second at 7.95. She had scores of 7.9 and 8.0. Rachel Nuttall, Vernal, picked up third place at 7.83 and had scores of 7.75 and 7.9. Vernal's Brenda Mitchell netted fourth place at 7.55. She had scores of 7.6 and 7.5. Christine Rose, West, placed fifth at 7.48. She had tallies of 7.7 and 7.25. Also competing in the floor exercise were: Vernal, Lynette Martinsen, 6.75; Tina Skerl, 6.53; Julie Oaks, 7.55 and West, Melenda Jordan, 7.15; Stormie Allee, 6.45; Hollee Vanderkraats, .85; Nesa Dushane, 7.08. Vernal's Nuttall captured first place in the uneven parallel bars at 9.3. She had scores of 9.4 and 9.2. Larson of Vernal placed second at 8.85 and had scores of 9.0 and 8.7. Mitchell, Vernal, picked up third place at 8.75. She had tallies of 8.6 and 8.9. Spencer netted fourth at 8.15 and had scores of 8.0 and 8.3. Jalelynne Hoopes, West, placed fifth at 7.55. Also taking part in the bars were: Vernal, Kecia Bowden, 6.6; Martinsen, 7.4; Reed, 7.0 and West, Rose, 7.45; Allee, 6.85; Suzette McKee, 7.25. West's Jesse Morrow netted first place in the vault at 9.5. Morrow had scores of 9.5. Spencer placed second at 8.85. She had scores of 9.0 and 8.7. Mitchell pocketed third place at 8.2. She had tallies of 8.4 and 8.0. Nuttall netted fourth place at 7.95 and she had scores of 8.0 and 7.9. Allee placed fifth at 7.8. She had scores of 8.0 and 7.6. Also competing were: Vernal: Larson, 6.50; Janis Olbert, 6.0; Robin Reed, 7.5; Martinsen, 7.65 and West, Lelilah Longhair, 7.5; Rose, 5.90. West's Spencer garnered top honors in the balance beam at 9.4. She had scores of 9.5 and 9.3. Vernal's Martinsen Mar-tinsen placed second at 7.95. She had tallies of 8.0 and 7.9. Ellen Husch, Vernal, nabbed third at 7.5. She had scores of 7.2 and 7.8. Skerl placed fourth at 7.35 and had tallies of 7.1 and 7.6. Vanderkraats place fifth at 7.30 and had scores of 7.2 and 7.4. Vernal's Nuttall nabbd a score of 6.75. Spencer nabbed first place in the all-around all-around at 34.35 and Nuttall netted second at 31.80. Martinsen placed third at 29.75 and Allee nabbed fourth at 28.00 West was announced as the winner of the meet with 161.84 points as compared com-pared to 160.41 for Vernal. However, an error was discovered by Vernal Junior High coach, Marilyn Chew and the final score was: Vernal, 164.44 and West, 164.16.
