Show FmHA aid to be cut in Vernal area Housing loans in (Ik- Vernal avca will U- hurt because of a nvent ruling from the Farmers Home Loan Administration Ad-ministration limiting its service to areas with under 10,(KH1 population. Application for rural housing loan assistance in communities with' populations between 10,000 and 20,000 may not be- accepted by the Fanners Home Administration alter March 31, local FmHA officials say. The areas to be cut by the ruling are Vernal, Krigham City, Cedar City and St. George. According to information received this week by Farmers Home Ad-. Ad-. ministration State Directors K. Iee Hawkes, these are by definition "urban" "ur-ban" in that more tlun 10,000 people live in the area, and consideration is being given to relinquish credit assistance to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) who administers the urban portion of the Housing Act of ll.Hl.. Farmers Home Administration will continue to service its loan portfolio in these areas as it does to areas previously withdrawn because of urbanizing ur-banizing trends. Last year Vernal was cut back of FmHA loans because it exceeded 10,000 population, but the community was put in a special category between 10,000 and 20,000 population. Recently FmHA lias said they cannot maintain the category and is limiting its service to areas with under 10,000 population, Dale Carlson, assistant director of the local office, said. The local FmHA will maintain assumption and transfer loans for existing FmHA homes. |
