Show Mobile homes necessary Dear Editor: I am a contractor who has come to the Ashley Valley looking for work, as many more will do presently. We are in the business of land improvement im-provement and development and can naturally be concerned with your fears and concerns pertaining to Ashley Valley. We are life-long residents of Utah and love not only the Salt Lake Valley where we live, but all of Utah. My family and I remember Vernal as a place to vacation years ago, and have enjoyed staying in your motels and visiting Dinosaur Land and the lakes and streams around there. I have been living in Vernal for the past year most of my time and have thoroughly enjoyed the association with the people here. They have been very cooperative with what I have proposed to do here in the Valley. We have done much work In Wyoming in the past few years and know first hand the problems encountered en-countered when an area is Impacted as hard as you probably will be. You have some big advantages over Wyoming In as much as the old Pioneers did lay out the valley in the traditional Mormon square layout, hence you should not have the traffic problems of Evanston. Also, you seem to have very capable people in the County Commission and various boards where I have attended meetings. I am very aware of the experience ex-perience of the Public Works and Inspection In-spection Department people in Vernal City as my boys and I work with them on the Wasatch Front and they have been thru the boom we experienced here in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Their knowledge of the problems yet to beset the Vernal area should be of great help, even outside the city, if you will use them. I would like to comment on trailer parks a little, as I am presently developing one in Vernal City. Some people enjoy the life style in mobile homes and there is a need for them. In today's economy they are about the only way young people can afford housing.' We all know that the strength of any society is in single family units and of course the more area each unit has, both house and yard wise, the more compatible people are. It would be great if all of us and our children could have a one acre lot and 2,000 sq. ft. of house, but we all know in today's market this is a dream, not only in Vernal, but all over the country. We must adjust to a smaller lot concept and also to modular housing. To do a little bragging, my boys and I have always been the best at what we do and will strive not to destroy, but to enhance your area with our projects. Much planning needs to be done and with strict codes and ordinances you can protect your valley. You cannot save your small town rural atmosphere, at-mosphere, but hopefully, together we can still make Ashley Valley a beautiful place to live. One last parting shot, remember that every added expense you put on the developer is passed on to some young couple at 16-18 percent interest for 30 years. May we all look back in years to come and be proud of our cooperation and accomplishments, is our prayer. Sincerely, M.C. GREEN EVERGREEN INVESTMENT CO. |
