Show Amoco Chemicals cuts energy use A 20 per cent reduction in energy consumption by Amoco Chemicals Company has set the pace for the entire industry. Reported Re-ported during a ivcent conservation conserva-tion conference in Chicago, June 30 statistics show that the Manufacturing Manu-facturing division of Amoco Chemicals Corporation, a subsidiary subsi-diary of Standard Oil Company (Indiana), exceeded the national average for energy savings. During the period July 1, 1976 to June 30, 1977, Amoco Chemicals Chemi-cals reduced the energy required per pound of product compared to that consumed in 1972 by 20.5 per cent. The industry-wide average, aver-age, based on reports from 1 1 1 different chemical companies, was 1 1.8 per cent. Chemicals plants contributing to the reduction in energy consumption con-sumption included Amoco's plants at Texas City. Tex.; Chocolate Choco-late Bayou. Tex.; New Castle, Del.; Decatur, Ala.; and the Cooper River plant near Charleston. Charles-ton. SC. |
