Show County nursing home to be bid in September Uintah County's new rest and nursing home will be ready for advertising for bids August 1 and bids are expected to be opened by Sept. 1, according to Uintah Uin-tah County Commissioners in their Monday meeting. Ehlers and Ehlers Archi tects is drawing draw-ing the plans for the 60 bed facility to be located on the southwest corner of 5th West and 5th South. Three acres of land has been purchased for the nursing center which is expected to cost between bet-ween $1.25 and $1.5 million. Sale of the Uintah County Hospital to Hospital Corporation of America is being be-ing held up by Vernal City's failure to sign over its deed for the land, according accor-ding to the Commissioners. A 30 day waiting period has been waived. As soon as the deed is cleared HCA will present the county with a $3.5 million check. Every day of delay is forfeiting taxpayers dollars, according to the Commissioners, because of the interest lost and the declining rate of the interet market. Vernal City wants the county to sign an annexation agreement in return for the hospital land deed. Uintah county maintains it will only sign the annexation annexa-tion agreement to the 5th South (squared off) boundary. In the meantime the two entities threaten one another with long, drawn out court battles on the issues. Vernal City also requests a more definitive buy-back provision in the hospital contract before rt will sign over its land deed. |
