Anderton downed ir Kevin Woollard, 6-0, 6-0, in the first i round and Haslem defeated Tim I Rasmussen, 6-1, 6-0. Haslem downed r Danny Rawlings, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. H Grant Newton of Roosevelt captured ;i the men's singles crown when he ; defeated John Hullinger, Roosevelt, 6- 0, 6-7, 6-0. Newton downed Steve Glick, ;. 6-1,6-2 and Hullinger defeated Vemal's John Davisson, 6-4, 7-5. Tom Sprouse ! thumped Ross Martin in the first round, :'i 6-0, 6-0. Newton downed Sprouse in the second round. Davisson thumped I? Martin in a consolation contest, 6-0,6-0. :L John Murphy and John Hullinger S garnered first place in the men's doubles when they edged John 3 Davisson and Roger Goelitz of Vernal, S 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Murphy and Hullinger downed Haslem and Peterson, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 and Davisson-Goelitz edged Rawlings-Anderton, 7-6, 7-5. Sprouse and Dickerson thumped Martin and Newton, 6-3, 6-2, in the first round. Murphy and Hullinger defeated Sprouse and Dickerson, 6-0, 4-6, 7-5, in the second round. Kelly Robb captured first place in the ladies' singles. She downed Kathy Hall and Sharon Birchell. Hall placed second. John Murphy and Kathy Hall captured first place in the mixed doubles due to a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Michael Peterson and Sharon Birchell. "It was a good tournament. A ladder tournament will begin Wednesday, June 10 and it will be open to everyone in the Uintah Basin. We will have as many divisions as possible. We need at least six people in each division.
