Show BOXING NEWS Cornelius Boza-Edwards Boza-Edwards retained his World Boxing Council superfeatherweight title-, Saturday, May 30 as he battered Bobby Chacon until the challenger's manager asked that the fight be stopped after the 13th round. It was the first title defense for the Uganda born Boza-Edwards, and after the first six rounds it all became easy. Chacon, a former VVBC featherweight champion, scored well in the first six rounds but then begantir-ing begantir-ing and the fight belonged to Boza-Edwards from then on. The final three rounds of the fight appeared to be almost in slow motion as the champion put the tired Chacon on the ropes and attacked him with dozens of short, crisp punches pun-ches to the head and body. Referee Carlos Fadilla stopped the fight after the 13th round at the request of Chacon's manager. Chacon's best round was the fourth when he and the champion stood toe to toe in the center of the ring and blasted each other with countless punches. pun-ches. Chacon then moved Boza-Edwards to the ropes and blistered him with numerous combinations combina-tions to the body and head. |
