Show Sfleinatxetr Reservoir is hot'-. ' srpo? during oiperaorag day Steinaker Reservoir was an excellent fishing hole last year and it was once again during the 1981 general fishing opener as many boaters and shore fishermen nabbed limits, Saturday. Leroy Stubbs of Vernal nabbed six fish and his limit before noon during the opening day. "I caught most of the fish on cheese and one on a worm. I hooked one 18 incher and three 15V4 inchers. I caught most of them in about a half hour between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. It was slow for awhile and then I caught one or two more." The fishing was so good a Steinaker Reservoir that some fishermen were doing odd things. "I caught two, but I threw them back. They weren't hooked too bad. I caught them on salmon eggs and marshmallows. Last year I did pretty good. Opening day this year is as good as last year. I had four or five bites in ten minutes. I'm waiting for the big one," stated Mike Corbin, Vernal. However, some fishermen encountered en-countered bad luck and such was the case of David Burnit of Jensen. "I lost a couple of good ones. I had one clear out on the shore. The hook wasn't in good and the fish spit it out at the last moment. It was ten inches. I felt bad. I had a couple of good strikes. He took cheese, but I missed him." Fishing at Steinaker Reservoir was a first time event for Terril Mills of the Oklahoma Panhandle, who lives now in Vernal. "I should of had a couple of fish. I had a few bites but I was trying to horse him in. I was reeling too hard and I lost him. I haven't fished for a long time. A lot of guys got their limits at 8 or 9 a.m." Dale Bristol of Vernal and other members of his fishing crew hooked fish in Steinaker Reservoir "p; i has been pretty good.
