Show Humanities committee to study growth impact Clara Price recently returned from a three-day three-day conference in Cedar City where the Utah Endowment for the Humanities met to plan programming priorities for the next two years. The meeting was the first for Mrs. Price since her election to the Committee in April. "Over the next two years, the Humanities Committee will attempt to focus programming in those areas of the state most affected by population growth due to energy development and the proposed MX missile project," explained Grethe Peterson, Chair of the Endowment. She continued, "The Uintah Basin is one of such impacted areas and the Committee will depend a great deal on Mrs. Price to advise them on what kinds of programs are most appropriate for that area of the state." Mrs. Price suggested to the Committee that her community was indeed interested in problems associated with projected growth, but also interested in-terested in the current problems facing the education system, cultural organizations, and social problems and services. The Endowment's Executive Director and Assistant Director will be in Vernal September 8th to attend a luncheon hosted by Mrs. Price. The Directors will be available the afternoon of the 8th to meet with organizations or persons interested in humanities programming for Vernal. Such appointments should be arranged by contacting Mrs. Price in Vernal. |
