Show Pedestrian dangers Dear Mr. Wallis: With the frequency of pedestrians being be-ing struck by motorists on Main Street, on designated cross-walks, where by law motorists should stop for them, . there certainly is a laxity in meeting-out meeting-out ' proper punishment for these violating motorists. When you are in violation of the law and strike a pedistrian it should be considered very ... serious - which apparently it is not! " I do not understand why laws are made if they are considered so lightly, it is almost as disgusting as the animal control laws, where dogs are supposed to be controlled by their owners at all times by the so-called, "Leash Law". You cannot walk down a public ' thoroughfare without someone's dog rushing out and practically attacking you! I was bitten last spring by one of those supposedly controlled dogs, and practically told by the person who was .supposed to enforce the law, 'That being be-ing bitten was just about my hard luck'. I think the pubic should assert .themselves and demand that their welfare be protected by laws that were implemented for their protection. j.a. Mcknight |
