Mr. and Mrs. Gary Rohrer of Roosevelt have a new son born at the Duchesne County hospital July 22, and named Travis Gordon. The other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rohrer of Douglas, Wyoming. One great-grandparent, Fern Benson, of Provo. Rod and Michelle Ross of Roosevelt had a boy born August 3 at the Duchesne County hospital, weighing 8 lbs. 8 oz. and named Jeramy Jim. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ross of Myton Bench. Kent and Celia Kay AUsop and sons, Jason and Brent from Bountiful spent the weekend here with her mother, Barta Jenkins. Next Friday evening August 15, Ballard Ward is holding a ward party at Bacon Park for everyone. Bring your eating utensils, pot luck dish, your own meat and some way of cooking it. Root beer, watermelon and corn-on-the-cob will be furnished. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fowels attended the Political Democratic luncheon honoring Governor Matheson at the Aspen Cove Restaurant in Vernal last" Friday. The food was delicious and then the Governor spoke. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marett from Spring Glen were visitors at the Karl Shisler home last Saturday. Correction-In last weeks news it was stated that Robert Page and Dean Truman would be married in the Provo Temple on August 8 and a reception would be held that evening at 447 East Lagoon St. in Roosevelt, it should have read a reception would be held Saturday, August 16, at 447 East Lagoon St. in Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Williams are buying the Bob Sheedy home about 2' -miles south of U.S. 40 on the Independence In-dependence Road. The Sheedy's are having a double-wide trailer home moved onto their property by their old home. The Williams came from a small town called Wikieup, Arizona. Mr. Williams is working for the Cove Acre Development Co. A daughter, Carol, will also be living with them. Mrs. Bob Sheedy and children have gone to Blackfoot, ID, to spend a week with her sister Lauretta Banta. ' Mrs. Fern Benson from Provo and daughter, Mary Louise, from Salt Lake City have been here visiting at her son's home, the Gordon Bensons, and attended at-tended the UBIC. While here, Mary Louise, attended a Class Reunion of 1941 held at the Vocational School in Roosevelt. Aaron Rasmussen is in Billings, Montana racing his horses. Last Saturday three horses ran, R.J. Alabi, Issue's Excuse and Alass Teryork, and all won their races. R.J. Alabi ran in a claiming race and was bought for a fair price. So far all of Aaron's horses have run either 1st or 2nd in their races. Four more people from Ballard Ward have been called to serve LDS missions. The Zane Assays will be going to the Samoan Islands; Bruce Betts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bctts is going to the Oakland, California Mission; Leona Cotonuts, daughter of Deuelia San Jaun, to the Hawaiian Mission. Clyde Jenkins brought his father, Will Jenkins, home August 8 from Salt Lake City. He was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital several months ago with a broken leg. He now has the cast off and can walk with a walker. His grandson is living with him. Violet Butcher, accidently fell and broke her left wrist. Her niece, Edna Iee Hamilton, was with her and took her to a doctor. Louie Hall died last Saturday in the Stewarts Convalescence Villa in Roosevelt. His funeral was held Tuesday, August 12, in the North Ballard Ward Chapel. The Johney Eldredges have moved a trailer home on their property one mile south of U.S. 40 on Independence Road, where they will live until they get their new home built. Beatrice Lundberg spent last Friday and Saturday in Ogden Canyon attending at-tending a Johnson reunion. There v.ere about 150 attending. Activities included games, a baa.ar, family dinner, a bon fire, geneology exchange, and float trie down the Ogden River. |
