Show ' . "v. HOWARD COWAN Jensen resident dies in SLC hospital Howard Cowan, 70, of Jensen, died in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City May 29, 1980. He was born April 4, 1910 in Salt Lake City to Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Gray Cowan Jr. He married Ila Wellman March 7, 1942 in Kaysville, Utah. He was a retired forest worker of 14 years, a vereran of World War II, a member of the LDS Church Jensen Ward and a member of the American Legion, Post 124. He is survived by his widow of Jensen, Jen-sen, Utah; brother, Lynn Cowan of Salt Lake City; sisters, Mrs. Vila Jacobsen of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Edith Mitchell Mit-chell of Whittier, Calif.; foster children, nieces and nephews. Funeral services in his honor were Monday, June 2 in the Jensen Ward Chapel. Bishop Lynn Morrill conducted the funeral service in the Jensen Ward Chapel. Owen Wall gave the family prayer. The Relief Society Chorus sang "Oh My Father" and the invocation was given by Marvin Solomon. Bishop Morrill gave some remarks, and Larry Peterson gave the obituary. Kay Hunting and Enola Montgomery sang "Beyond the Sunset," and Pres. Nyle Bigelow spoke. The .Relief Society Chorus sang "In the Garden," and Jim Cowan offered the benediction. Lynn Cowan dedicated the grave in the Jensen City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Western, Ross Western, Jr.,- Richard Davis, Larry Varney, Earl Varney, and John Carrey. |
