Show Kommonettes welcome two new members Kommonettes Club recently held their meeting at the home of Carma Bascom. Two new members were welcomed to the club, Jackie Harrison and Jolene Rogers. Secret Pal gifts were exchanged at which time the members found out who had been their secret pal during the past year. New officers for the coming year were installed by Christine Benson, the outgoing president. She presented each new officer with a plant symbolic of the duties of the office she was assuming. Officers for the 1980-91 year will be president, Carma Bascom; vice president, Linda Serre; secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, Diane Bigelow; reporter, Elizabeth Davidson; historian, Carolyn Spendlove; parliamentarian, Christine Benson; program chairmen, Carol Whitely and Sherry Perry. Christine Benson and the other outgoing officers were thanked for their service to the club. The club would like to congratulate Christine Benson upon her election to the office of president of the Uintah i Basin District of the United Federations of Womens Club. Father's Day, though not an official holiday, was celebrated cele-brated individually in ancient China where great age implied great prestige. A popular gift was a longevity robe: costly silk embroidered embroider-ed with the characters for "long-life" by a young person per-son likely to live long. |
