' PATTI RICHARDSON Richardson to compete in teen pageant Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Richardson of Granger, Utah, formerly of Vernal, Patti Richardson, 17, has been selected to be a state finalist in the 1980 Miss United Teenager Pageant. The pageant is the official state-wide finals and will be held at the University of Utah at 7:30 p.m. on June 28. Contestants from all over the state will be competing for the title. The winner of the state finals will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the National Finals, a three phase event which will take place in Hollywood, Calif.; Waikiki Beach, Hawaii; and Washington, D.C., where she will compete for $15,000 in cash scholarships, scholar-ships, a new automobile for her reigning year, a trip to Europe, $5,000 appearance contract, $2,000 wardrobe and other awards. The contestants all are between the ages of 14 and 18 and must have at least a "B" average in school. They will be judged on their scholastic and civic achievements, beauty, poise and personality. No swimsuit competition is required. Each contestant will write and recite on stage a 100 word essay on the subject, "My Country." They are requested to participate in the volunteer volun-teer community service program of the Miss United Teenager Pageant by contributing at least 8 hours of time to some worthwhile charity or civic project of their choice. Miss Richardson is sponsored by B&H Realty, Bangerter and Hen-drickson Hen-drickson and KEHL Building Company. Com-pany. She is a student at Granger High School. Patti's hobbies include camping, cam-ping, cheering, sewing, cooking and creative writing. |
