Show ( Voice of By Diedra Northern Governor's Conference on Aging was held Monday June 2. Many issues were discussed, such as inflation. Dale Cameron from First Security Bank spoke to the Senior Citizens on rising utility costs and rising interest rates. Joan Janes and Roland Merkley spoke to the group on extended nursing home care for Senior Citizens here in the Uintah Basin. The group of 56 Senior Citizens voiced their opinions on these issued discussed and proposals will be made and submitted to Governor Matheson. 170 Senion Citizens enjoyed the Swiss steak dinner held Monday, June 2. Lois Rasmussen entertained the group with a few humorous readings and then played a few numbers on the piano. On the menu for Monday, June 9 is: Roast beef; potatoes and gravy, corn, tossed salad, jello salad, cake and ice cream. Bingo winner for the month of lay was Lillian Westwood with 14 games. Second place for the month was Lena Mast having 12 games. Third place was Marion Swain with 10 games. Winner for the week of May 27 was a tie between bet-ween Marion Swain and Lena Mast both having four games. Ada Murray took second with three games. If you would like to get out of the house, come and have fun at the bingo table every Tuesday starting at 1:30 p.m. A public hearing was held Monday June 2 at the Golden Age Center on Uintah Basin having their own Area Agency. The state board members listened to the pro's and con's on the issues, and how this would benefit Senior Citizens of the Basin. The state board members said that a final decision would be made on this matter on June 18. With graduation and many other things going on last Friday night, we thought our dance would be somewhat small, but the biggest crowd showed up. We had a super time. Newcomers were Billie McGuire, Fresno, Calif., sister-s sister-s in-law of Lee Morris; Ted Sewell, Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Deon Moon, Jensen; Arlene Milloops and Robert CoValt, both of Rangely; Dick and Carolyn Karren, Newhall, Calif., brother to Doris Karren and Kenneth Hadlock, New Braunfels, Texas. Happy birthday was sung to Cliff Hershey. On the sick list this week were: Marion A. Behunin, Milt and Florence Wooley and Vena Wardell. Don Smith played the drums in Vena's place, with the band. We are glad to hear Jay Searle is now at home after his recent surgery. We are looking for you and Pat to return soon Jay. Hurry and get well. Welcome back Lee and Leah Allred of Roosevelt. Mr. Sewell and Tony Woodhouse sang a few numbers with the band. Always remember the dance is held every Friday and you are all welcome to come and have a good time with the greatest people in the West.
