Ashley Creek floods property in Maeser As Ashley Creek began flooding last week, some Maeser residents living along the creek found their yards and drivewavs flooded with ankle-deep water. According to Mrs. Ken Phillips, there is a 60 degree turn in the creek near their trailer home at 1752 West 1500 North. 'Every year the creek breaks at that point," Mrs. Phillips said, "and the commissioners do nothing about it." Mrs. Phillips indicated that the only thing they could do to retain the flooding was to dig their driveway down and put a ditch on the west side of then-house. then-house. Despite their efforts Thursday of last week, water was flooding their driveway and yard. According to Commissioner Merrill Mecham, last year they tried to solve the problem only to face a fine from the Army Corps of Engineers for their efforts. Mecham believes the problem isn't severe and could be remedied by the residents themselves or by talking to the commissioners. Mrs. Phillips said the water which began flooding Monday subsided as of Friday of last week. |
