Show Annual Ute Pow-Wow slated July 2-5 at Ft. Duchesne Over $6,500 in cash prices will be awarded to winners in dance contests during the 12th annual Northern Ute Pow Wow at Fort Duchesne. The celebration will be held on July 2, 3, 4 and 5. The host drum for this year's event will be the Iron Wood Singers from Rosebud, South Dakota. Tony Apple Ap-ple of Pine Ridge will be the emcee. The events are: men's fancy dance, men's traditional dance, drum contest, women's fancy shawl and women's traditional dance. Heading this year's pow wow will be Ray Springwater. He will be assisted by Joe Pinnecoose, co-chairman; Sadine Chimburas, secretary; Angelita Am-boh, Am-boh, treasurer and Harold Cutheair, Ron Cuch, arena directors. $1,000 will be given to first place winners win-ners in the mens' fancy and traditional dance competitions. First prize for the women's fancy shawl will be $5O0. $GO0 will be awarded to the first place winners win-ners for the women's traditional dance and $500 will be given to the first place drum group. There will also be a uueen contest and a parade will be held on July Ju-ly 5. A 5,000 and 10,000 kilometers race will occur on July 5. Runners are asked to pre-register and they must pick up their race packets at the Ute Tribe Pow-wow grounds, one mile east of Bottle Hollow Inn, on July 5 between 7 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. People wishing to take part in the race should mail entries to: Ute Indian Tribe Administration Department, P.O.
