He will run a j sance of 3,049 miles during his trip. Cottrell set a world's record by King 167 miles in 24 hours and he ; ithe American record on the track a 100 miles. He also holds the 20th : jury record for most miles run in (days, 405 miles. i He long distance runner, Cottrell, , its each morning at 5 a.m. He alternates running for 25 minutes and walking for five minutes for three hours covering about 20 miles. He takes an hour break, which is followed by another three hour segment. After each 25 miles he changes his shoes and socks and soaks his feet in ice water. In all, he runs three three-hour segments per day for an average of 60 miles per day. Cottrell has a support crew for the entire trip, which includes a physician and a nutritionist. He has a promoter and an agency that helped him to secure the financial backing for the venture, which costs over $100,000. Stan is a graduate of Western Kentucky, Ken-tucky, where he earned a degree in health and physical education. |
