Show Students to become aware of man-made surroundings The student body of Uintah High School and the students and staff at Naples Elementary School will learn about their man-made environment in a new educational program to begin in January. The Architect in the School program i AIS i. a new approach to education will seek to make students more aware of the built environment. Much of a person's life is spent in an area constructed or at least altered by human ingenuity, and being more aware of the limitations of the man-made man-made environment can greatly enhance a person's life. In .January, Bret Ehlers of Ehlers and Ehlers architectural firm will work in the High School and in Naples Elementary school one day each week as an instructor and coasullant. With the students and faculty; members and the local professional and skilled workers, Ehlers said the program will work in Naples : Elementary School to restore an old cabin and in Uintah High School on a project that has not yet been chosen. "The work project itself is not the. main objective," Ehlers said. He ex plained that the learning that takes 4 place along the way is the real intent of AIS. Ehlers said the entire program is '' student oriented. "Teachers and other . 1 adults who work with the students will serve only as advisors and counselors." |
