SodBoits fiwom Siro3(o After three weeks on the road the Utes returned to Vernal and sank the Steamboat Springs Sailors, 43 to 9, by winning 10 of the 12 matches, Saturday at Uintah High School. The victory improves Uintah's dual meet record to 3 wins and 1 loss. The Utes have thumped Rock Springs, Tooele and Steamboat Springs. Uintah's only loss was to Colorado tussling power, Grand Junction Central. Uintah rewarded the faithful Vernal fans with 7 wins in the first seven matches for a 37-0 lead. Uintah's Josh Reynolds nipped Mike Barber, 98, 6-2. Reynolds gained a takedown and a three-point near fall in the first round for a 5-0 lead and added an escape in the second round. Barber pocketed a reversal in the third round to cut the final score to 6-2. The Utes' 105 pounder, Monte Morris, clipped Richard Barber, 5-2. Morris gained a takedown in the first round for a 2-0 lead, but Barber picked up a reversal in the second round to tie the match up at 2-2. However, Morris flipped Barber around for a reversal and added a penalty point in the final round. Norm Look of Steamboat Springs pocketed second place in the Steamboat Springs Tournament and his Uintah opponent in the 112 pound match. Foston Chivers, did not place. However, that didn't mean a thing to Chivers as he clipped Look for a 3-2 win. Chivers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second round due to a reversal, but Look tied up the match with a reversal in the third round. Chivers escaped from Look with 29 seconds left in the match to gain the winning point. Jeff Good, who is a sophomore at Uintah High school, won his first varsity dual meet match when he blanked 119 pound, Shane Jacobs, 6-0. Good dropped Jacobs for a takedown in the first round, and placed Jacobs' shoulder blades on the mat for a three-point three-point near fall. He added a reversal in the final round. The 126 pound encounter was a match. Cory McNeill. Uintah, leaped out and dropped Ed Stees for a takedown and turned the Sailor over for a two-point near fall. Stees copied McNeill as he reversed the Ute tussler and placed him on his back for a two-point two-point near fall, which tied the match up at 4-4 after one round of action. McNeill ended Steamboat Springs' hopes for a win by pinning Stees with 1:12 left in the second round, which delivered an 18 to 0 advantage to the Uintah Utes. 1 v 4 ill i.U-s.LU'l. Uintah, 138. wasted little time in his contest as he dropped Chris Ferguson flat against the mat for a fall with 43 seconds left in the first round. Uintah's 145 pounder. Randy Smuin, won his match due to a forfeit. Raymond Perry, 145, pocketed Uintah's seventh win in a row and increased in-creased the Utes' lead to 37 to 0 with a 7-2 7-2 triumph over Scott Clementson. Steamboat Springs broke Uintah's winning streak with a 7-4 victory in the 1(17 pound encounter. The match was tied at 2-2 due to reversals in the second round. Billy Bedell, Uintah, gained an escape in the third round for a 3-2 lead, but J.D. Adams, Steamboat Springs knocked Bedell down for a takedown and turned the Uintah tussler over for a three-point near fall. Bedell gained an escape, which made the final score, 7-4 in favor of Adams. The Sailors gained their second win in a row when Joe Ramunno, 185, pinned Uintah's Art Daley with 1:01 left in thesecond round. Ken Cobbs, Uintah's heavyweight matman, returned a smile to the Ute fans when he pounced on Dale Coyner for a pin with 23 seconds left in the second round.
