Country Meadows celebrates Christmas with open house1 The children at Country Meadows celebrated Christmas with their families at the annual Christmas open house Wednesday, Dec. 19. Santa visited with the children and their brothers and sisters and after hearing their Christmas orders, he gave each child a Christmas treat. Teachers gave each child enrolled at Country Meadows a special Christmas gift. Parents and grandparents enjoyed the Christmas decorations and sampled refreshments made by the children. The open house ended three busy weeks of Christmas activities at Country Meadows. Children made and decorated covers for the Country Meadows Cook Book which were then wrapped in paper, also decorated by the children. The books were then given to a special person for the children's very own Christmas gift. Trimming the tree was an exciting event as the children strung popcorn strings and made silver bells, paper chains, Santa Mouse stockings and lollipop Suzy Snowflake ornaments to put on the tree Special ornaments were made to bf taken home to adorn the trees there The favorite Christmas characters ol Rudolph, Frosty and Santa Claus were created in art forms as the childrer listened to their favorite stories and sang their favorite songs about these famous Christmas personalities. With help from the teachers and parent aides, the children made over 500 cookies to be served at the open house. Kay Goad and Elaine Walton visited school and helped the children decorate gingerbread men whict were served at the special event. Paper Christmas wreathes and Christmas trees were made to decorate the school and the preparations for the open house were finally completed. The children were treated to a day of stringing cereal necklaces and watching wat-ching Christmas films as the final school activity of the season. Country Meadows is now in recess until Jan. 3. |
