Show West drops three-pointer The West Junior High Vikings were thumped by the Altamont Longhorns, 55 to 22. in their season opener, but they recovered the next week and were defeated by only three points, 35 to 32. in a contest against Duchesne. Grant Cook was the high scorer in both games for West. He fired in 12 points in the game against Altamont and tossed in 16 points in the game against Duchesne. Billy Cuch tossed in 8 points in the game with Altamont. and Tracy Warrick put in 8 points in the game with Duchesne. "Our players seem to be coming along a lot better and played a lot better in the second game with Duchesne," state Guy Coleman, West Junior High hoop coach. "Grant Cook did a real good job on the boards and in the shooting department. He hit a lot of outside shots." West had a small lead late in t game with Duchesne, and Colem remarked, "We had a two point le with about three minutes left in t game. We turned the ball over a cou of times and Duchesne hit some baskf to win the game." The Vikings will encounter the Rouj Riders in Roosevelt, January 3 at p.m. West will battle Altamont on t road. January 17, and will he Duchesne, January 24. |
