Ron Gardner, Ron Ellis and Labrum flipped in free throws in the 25-point first quarter. The Utes hit the half century mark in the second quarter as they took a 51 to 32 lead into the locker room during halftime. Brent Labrum was the top scorer for the Utes in the second quarter as he poured in 9 points on four field goals and one free throw. Ron Ellis fired in three field goals for six points, and Derrin Gardiner connected on two field goals and a free throw for five points.
