Show Glue Sniffing Parties Reported By Police Chief ; Moab City , Police Chief Melvin S. Dalton this week 'Stated that . officers had collected col-lected evidence of several glue sniffing parties which, he stated, involves about 12 youngsters. Dalton said that at this time no youths had been picked up in connection with the parties but said that there did seem to be quite a number num-ber of youngsters involved. "Glue sniffing can cause both physical and mental damage," da-mage," Dalton said, "and in some cases it has been known to cause death." , In other action, the officer offi-cer reported that members of the department had been advised to issue citations to those persons who are found littering in town. This problem prob-lem has been increasing, stated sta-ted Dalton,' and it must be Stopped. Parents are advised that officers are cracking down on youngsters who do not have a license and who are riding motor bikes. These youths will be .picked up, according ac-cording to the Chief, and their bikes confiscated. The children will then be turned over to juvenile court. Several minor accidents oe cupied police time during the past week including traffic traf-fic citations issued to three juveniles, a broken window valued at $20 at Midland Telephone Te-lephone Co., the theft of a chain saw from San Juan Lumber valued at $150, a speeding ticket issued to John S. Roberts, Terry Lynn Crowson cited for no plates, and Kenneth C. Hawks was cited for DWI. Two minor accidents also occurred, the first on Feb. 22, happened when Sharon Kay Bower, driving a 1969 Chev, was backed into by Cecelia Rogers driving a 1961 Chyrsler. About $85 damage da-mage was done to the Bower vehicle Also on Feb. 22, a hit and run accident saw a 1961 Dofge owned by Una D. Sittre damaged. The car was hit-by a pickup doing about $100 damage. The truck failed fail-ed to stop, the officers are still investigating. |
