Show good with the not so good E. Paul Burke, Denver, president of Frontier Airlines, Air-lines, announced a new daily flight between Salt Lake City and Billings, Montana, to begin March 1. At the same time he said chances for continuous service to such marginal points as Moab and Venial are not good unless Congress and the Civil Aeronautics Aero-nautics Board raise subsidies for suclh service. He said Frontier had built up a substantial profit pro-fit in 23 years of operation until inflation wiped out the profit from some of the stops. The result has been that the- stockholders are paying h'alf the cost for such stops, he said. Coming on the heels of an announcement Tuesday Tues-day that all restrictions (had been lifted from Frontier Fron-tier operations at Canyonlands Airport, the Burke statement, which has been stated before by others, takes some of the bloom off the rose. Utalh's Congressional delegation, along with delegates dele-gates from other small, sparcely-populated states, should do all they can to bring pressure on the Civil Aeronautics Board in an attempt to see our rural communities retain this important air service. |
