Show FOUR MEN DIE IN HOUSTON FIRE HOUSTON, Texas, Jsn. 17 UtV-Four UtV-Four men were burned to death and five Injured In a fire that demolished de-molished the Salvation Army Industrial In-dustrial home early this morning. Th dead: Arthur Speed. 47; Al Wilson, 36; Ernest McGlll. 55; and James Melton, 48. All were employed In the home. Twenty persons were In the sleeping sleep-ing quarters when the fire wss discovered at 2:07 a. m. Three of the men who Jumped from a second-story window were Injured and the remaining IS were taken from the second story by firemen's ladders. The Injured were G. Bamper, 68, compound fracture of the right leg; R. O. Upper, 48, cut over the left eye and a badly wrenched back; and G. Flnley, 43, overcome by smoke before he toppled top-pled out of. the window and was ssved from further Injuries by neighbors who caught him la a blanket Two firemen were less seriously Injured. |
