Show 108 ARE MISSING ON BRITISH SUBS LONDON, Jan. 17 UPt The admiralty ad-miralty today announced a total of 108 officers and men were missing miss-ing aboard three British submarines, subma-rines, loss of which was announced yesterday, but Indicated that the death list may be less since Germany Ger-many had reported some of them rescued. The submarines and their complements com-plements were listed es follows: Seahorse, five officers and 34 man; Undine, four officers and 28 men: Starfish, five officers and 34 men. An admiralty communique said: "The German wireless has announced an-nounced that part of the crews of the Undine and Starfish have been rescued, but their names are not yet available." The losses were the first submarine sub-marine casualties Britain has acknowledged as being due to German Ger-man action since the war started. The communique lilted the names of 14 officers and 94 men missing. Commanders of the three vessels were Lieutenant Commander A. S. Jackson of the Undine, Lieutensnt D. S. Massy-Dawson of the Seahorse Sea-horse and Lieutenant T. A. Turner of the Starfish. |
