Show Fraternities, SororitiesNot Whole Show In the next few weeks there Is going to be a tot of unhapplness on college campuses. 'The girl or boy who wants to pledge a sorority soror-ity or fraternity and is overlooked or turned down will feel pretty bad about It for a long time. It doesn't matter that older people peo-ple may think It Is a mighty unimportant un-important business. It isn't to the very young. Some of them carry a chip on their shoulders all through college because of It Others 'lose all interest in-terest In campus activities. Still others stop school at the end of the first semester, making up some excuse for their parents and friends. It Is too bad they don't know how easy it Is for a boy or girl to get along famously without a sorority so-rority or fraternity so well. In fact that In a year he can have bids from any group he cares to join. All he has to do Is make a go of It alone. Get on the debating team, on an athletic team, get a job on the college paper or yearbookor year-bookor do any of the dozens of jobs he can da The only thing for him to remember re-member Is to get into something for which he has talent and then to work hard at It By the time he makes himself known on the campus he may not want to take any of the bids that come his way. By that time he may feel that there are better ways of spending the money. But If he Is hurt at not being asked the best thing for him to do Is to get himself asked as quickly I as possible. And then he can de-I de-I cide whether It Is worth while or not - |
