Show 'Maisie'Tops . Billon Gem Screen Ann Sothern and Robert Young cottar in the Gem theater's present pres-ent attraction, "Maisfe," comedy-drama seen on the same bill with "My Son I a Criminal." The wisecracking Miss Sothern lands in Wyoming during the state's festive Rodeo week. She and her troupe are scheduled to appeanrran bperaruhtn the fleam the manager has absconded with their funds. Young meets Ann after he accuses ac-cuses her of stealing his wallet, but instead of squaring things with him, the pretty chorine falls In love with the cowboy. During one of their rides, she learns Young served a prison term for forgery. "Malsie" 1 climaxed when Young is arrested on suspicion of murder and asks Ann, who holds the key to his innocence, to return to the rsnch and testify in his behalf. Cliff Edwards and Ian Hunter also are starred in this romantic story of the modern west. Willard Robertson, seen as the two-fisted ex-police chief who returns re-turns to the force to solve a series of robberies, stars In the Gem's companion feature, "My Son Is a Criminal." The picture concerns Robertson's son, played by Alan Baxter, who has turned to crime snd refuses to reform despite his father' pleadings. |
