Plumhof 'Does Not Choose to Run' for Post of Mayor in Municipal Election By PAUL STAPLES With only 11 days remaining for candidates to file their petitions, peti-tions, efforts were renewed Monday to bring out additional entries for the municiDal elections this falL One prospective candidate In the' contest for mayor. H, J. Plumhof, for many years an executive of the Union Pacific railroad, eliminated himself. Mr. Plumhof said he had decided against becoming a candidate. Prominent Republicans had headed a committee that urged his entry. Efforts to bring out Ab Jenkins, Utah speed racer, were being made. Mr. Jenkins hss often been mentioned men-tioned for mayor or a place on the commission. Mr. Jenkins said Monday he is Interested only in becoming head of the public safety .department. He feels along with advocates of his candidacy that his experience especially qualifies him for the .safety position. Mr. Jenkins disclosed that should he enter, however, his campaign would have to be largely carried on by his supporters. Present plans call for Mr. Jenkins to be in the east at the time 'of the election. Ralph A. Badger, Investment broker, was still considering entering enter-ing the ranks of candidates for the commission. Mr. Badger nas considerable backing, particularly from apartment apart-ment house owners and in Republican Republi-can circles, it was said. Persistent reports continued to circulate In political centers that efforts would be made to Induce Karl S. Little, employe of the Union Pacific Railroad company, to enter the race for mayor. Mr. Little, it was said, would draw heavily from the ranks of labor should he desire to enter. |
