Gary Crandall played his arch rival Richard Dixon of BY high in the class B championship, losing 6-3, 6-2. The win for Dixon was his third straight in the Y meet. Gary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Crandall. Marvin Fullmer, SHS tenth grader, gra-der, won the championship in tennis ten-nis at the Y meet for competitors in his division. Marvin's win is a puplication of last year's victory in the Ninth grade division. He won 6-4, 6-4 over Bailey of American Ameri-can Fork in the finals of the singles sin-gles play. Marvin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fullmer. Repeating Marvin's prowess in the junior high tennis competition of last year, Craig Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Smith, garnered the coveted title this year to keep the Y title in the SHS stronghold. Smith had little trouble in the championship tilts winning 6-1, 6-2 over Roosevelt's John Holbrook. In the Junior high track, Hatfield Hat-field in the high jump, Chadwick in the pole vault and Allman in the shot placed third in each of the respective events. |
