Show Farmer of Year Named at State Meet at Mapleton At the state Junior Chamber of Commerce banquet held last week in the Mapleton Memorial Hall, Chester L. Zollinger of Providence was selected as the outstanding young farmer of the state. Second place winner was Carl Marcusen of Leland and third place was won by J. Cecil Charlson of Brigham City. State Jaycee president Boyd Bunnell presented each winner with a beautiful plaque. Mr. Zollinger will go to Minneapolis, Minnea-polis, Minn., to participate in the national young farmer contest which will be held from the first to the third of June. The contest is sponsored by the Jaycees and the Amercan Petroleum Institute. Other entrants in the contest were Joseph Carnesecca, Jr., of Mapleton; Albert J. Nichle of Delta, Del-ta, and Ray B. Kesler of Beaver. This banquet was the first Jaycee Jay-cee state function held in Mapleton Maple-ton for quite a few years. Paul Schwartz of the Mapleton Jaycees was in charge of reservations and will be responsible for the entrant's paper reaching the national headquarters. head-quarters. . The Jaycee Wives served the banquet to approximately seventy-five seventy-five members and guests. Guest speakers for the evening were Aldon Barton, state commissioner commis-sioner of agriculture, and Blaine Swenson, state Farm Bureau president. pres-ident. Judges for the contest were Mr. Swenson, S. R. Boswell, Utah county agricultural agent and Fred Cornaby, state young farmer director di-rector and the teacher of agriculture agricul-ture at Provo high school.
