Sumsion, well-known j ! springville contractor, celebrated ! ! lis 82nd birthday Wednesday with : a family dinner at their home, 389 ast First So., and as usual was "on the job." : Much younger in appearance and : activity than his years would in-: in-: dicate. Mr. Sumsion bids and man- j jf, with the help of his two sons j j pick and James, most of the J. : . j( Sumsion Construction Co. jobs. ; Only this week he was out to Car-; Car-; son City, Nev., to bid a job. Born in Springville April 27, 1813, his parents were early settlers, set-tlers, George and Ann Elizabeth Bird Sumsion. He has always made his home in Springville. For a number of years, he was associated associat-ed with the late Ralph Smart in tie Feed Store business, and also vpi'i his brothers, H. L., Emmett ed George, did considerable rail-nad rail-nad construction. Later he was in partnership with W. W. Clyde on highway construction work and experienced his first job at Myton. He was with the late J. M. Whiting in the construction business, before forming his own company with his sms. Mr. Sumsion married Ina May-cock May-cock in March, 1908 in the Salt Lake Temple and she died the following fol-lowing July. On March 9, 1928, he married Lela Coplan of Mesa, Ariz., in the Salt Lake Temple, and they have two sons, Dick . and lames, and four grandchildren. Mr. Smusion also has an older brother Henry L. Sumsion living at Santa Barbara, Calif., and three sitters, Mrs. Grace McKenzie, Mrs. Christie Lee and Mrs. Nettie Whiting, Whit-ing, all of Springville. |
