Show 535 Polio Shots Given Children In Grade Schools A total of 535 boys and girls in the first four grades in Springville Spring-ville received the polio shots Monday. Mon-day. The group included those children chil-dren who had received the ineffective ineffec-tive shots last year and thos3 whose parents signed their permission permis-sion early in March. Those children who participated in the program last year and received re-ceived a real innoculation are to be given a booster shot in November Novem-ber and those who received two shots this year will also get a booster. The second shot this year will be given May 16. According to Mrs. Leona Curtis, public health nurse for Nebo school district, this is all the serum available avail-able at the present time and there is no way of getting more, it being be-ing restricted at the present time to children from two to nine years and expectant mothers. Assisting with the innoculations in Springville were besides Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Lyle Childs, public health nurse; also PTA officers and Dr. Norman Parker and Dr. James M. Nance. |
