EAST HIGH 33 GRANITE 0 The undefeated and unscored-upon East high Leopards added new laurels to their already long list yesterday when they defeated Granite on the latter's field by a score of 33 to 0. The Granitians offered stubborn resistance resis-tance in the first half, but they could not stand the onslaught in the last half and the Leopards piled up a big score. Several times during the game it looked as though the Farmers would push the ball across their opponents' goal line for a score, but they could not produce the necessary nec-essary punch. At the kickoff Granite received the ball, and on straight football carried the oval to the Leopards' twenty-yard line. In the first two minutes of play a mlxup between be-tween two opposing players resulted In both of them being put out of the game Andrews of Granite and Smith of the East side. The Red and Blue were held for downs and as soon as the Leopards got he ball Two end runs by Henderson and one by Myers netted them sixty yards. The last quarter found the teams fumbling fum-bling frequently, which was partly due to darkness. During the final minute of play it was almost too dark to see the ball. Granite Starts Well. During the first part of. the game the Granite line opened up large holes for their backs, who made most of their gains through tackle. The speed of the East high backs overcame the advantage advan-tage the Farmers held In the line and after Granite made first down several times they were held, and then the speedy back field of the Leopards tore around the Granite ends, having good Interference, Interfer-ence, and soon regained the lost territory Myers and Henderson, In the back field for the Leopards, could be counted upon for gains almost any time, while Papworth Pap-worth and Kump played well In the Ilnr. Hart. Erlckson and GInl played exceptionally excep-tionally well on the line for the Farmers and they frequently went through the Leopard line and broke up the plays. Llnell and Smith played well at ends, find Cutler and Hamilton played good ball In the back fle'd. The absence of Cornwall at quarter was a great handicap to the Granitians and when Andrews was put out of the game their lineup was much weakened. The llneun and summary: East High (33). Granite (0.
