The report says: "Although wet, disagreeable weather interfered greatly with all farm activities activi-ties in most sections of the state during the week, considerable plowing and seeding seed-ing were accomplished and the sugar beet harvest was pushed ahead as rapidly as adverse weather conditions would permit. per-mit. Precipitation in generous amounts fell over practically the entire state and in most sections was sufficient to put the soil in excellent condition for working and to give added impetus to the healthy growth of grass in pastures and on the lower range. "October snowfall records were broken generally and the ground is all covered in the eastern and in some northern districts. dis-tricts. In some localities in the eastern part of the state farmers substituted sleds for wagons and trucks for trans- ; portatlon purposes. The snow cover is welcomed by farmers with hay for sale, as it stimulates the demand for their product, whereas it is decidedly unwelcome unwel-come to stockmen, who are ooliged to purchase feed tor.their stock. "Winter grain seeding was completed in some districts and made headway In others. Some early sown wheat Is up and looking fine. Considerable quantities of potatoes remained in the ground in t he northern part of the state, many of which have been frozen. "The principal road? over the state, where properly mninta ined. are in fairly good condition and traffic has been Impeded Im-peded very little thereon, but branch roads as a. rule are in very poor shape." |
