Show ITIICHT MKEE9ED Traffic Sergeant J. W. Warden War-den Gives Hints to Pedestrians Pedes-trians and Drivers. Warnings for the purpose of minimizing minimiz-ing the danger of accidents have been issued by Traffic Sergeant J. H. Warden. Advice to automobile drivers Is as fol-laws fol-laws : "Drive carefully and keep car under control at all times. Turn all corners squarely and near the curbing when going to the right. Pass all vehicles on the left side and keep watch for pedestrians pedes-trians who might be crossing the street from the right curbing. Pass street cars on the right hand side, keeping watch for persons who are waiting to catch the street car. "Stop fifteen feet from the street when coming out of an alley and sound horn, then proceed slowly. Put red bunting, danger sign, on all projecting loads. Give right of way over vehicles approaching from the left. Observe all speed laws with rigid precaution. Be sure that your car is equipped with skid chains before attempting to drive over streets that are covered with ice and snow. Always observe ob-serve coasting flags, as you are endangering endanger-ing the lives of children when you do not. Keep your lights in perfect condition and free of glare. "Pedestrians are warned to look and observe whether or not there are vehicles approaching on the street before venturing ventur-ing to cross. When crossing the street watch at your left, and on passing the middle of the street watch at your right. Do not dodge back and forth in front of an approaching automobile, but stand still. Keep your head up, brain clear and watch from all sides when crossing the street in downtown districts. Do not cross intersections in-tersections diagonally. "When about to leave or board a street car, always be sure that you are not menaced men-aced by an approaching vehicle before stepping into the street. When waiting for a street car at the corner, do not step from the curbing until the car is well past the middle of the block. Do not step in front of or behind a street car that you have just alighted from. "For a constant reminder, turn to your book of the city's traffic rules." |
