Show Prominent Democrats Retire. Reduction of Democratic committee representation, approved today by minority minor-ity senators, Involved retirement of prominent promi-nent Democrats from many important committees. As the seniority rule was followed in reducing the committee representation, rep-resentation, all holdover Democrats of senior service retain their places. The Democratic members of the foreign relations committee selected were: Hitchcock, Hitch-cock, Nebraska, former chairman ; Wit-Mams. Wit-Mams. Mississippi; Swan son, Virginia; Pomerene, Ohio; Smith. Arizona; Pitlman, Nevada, and Shields, Tennessee. Retiring members were Thomas, Colorado, and Robinson, Arkansas. On the finance committee, all Democratic Demo-cratic holdovers remain except Senator Robinson. From tho appropriations committee. com-mittee. Senator Chamberlain of Oregon retired and Senator Harris uf Georgia was added. From the interstate commerce committee, Senators Gore of Oklamoha and Pittman retired and Senator Stanley of Kentucky was chosen to membership. Senators Wolcott of Delaware and Fletcher of Florida retired from the judiciary judi-ciary committee and Senator Rend of Missouri Mis-souri and Smith of Georgia cave up their places on the military affairs committee. |
