Show ' . 1 FIGHTING AMERICANS TAKE LONG MOTOR HIKE I'j Photo shows forty-two soldier boys, guests of the Taylor Motor company, intenuouiitaiu distributors for Chalmers cars, seated in seven Chalmers touring tour-ing atrtos, on their ride around Salt Lake City and county last Thursday. Seven bi Chalmers curs r.cre donated do-nated by tbo Taylor Motor company last Thursday to the Ked Cross motor corps, and forty-two convalescent soldier boys were given a pleasurable outing, -which began at 2 o 'clock in the afternoon and continued until late that evening. , Salesmauager Leo A. Bird of the Tav. lor Motor company arranged the trip early in the week, and made provision for refreshments and smoking equipment, equip-ment, which was provided as per sched- j ule by the Keeley Ice Cream company, the soldiers receiving ice cream and candy. The smokes were furnished by S. H. Murrin, manager of the United J Cigar store at Main and Second South streets. The "motor bike,"' as arranged by Mr. Bird, included a run around the main section of the city, and was fiu-shed fiu-shed after a long drive out to Murray, over to the county highway, back on Highland Drive and along Thirteenth East street to the fort. As this was not a test for the cars merely a sunshine outing for the convalescent conva-lescent fighters it is perhaps not permissible per-missible to say that all the big machines ma-chines acted their part nobly, kept their places in line like a fleet of battleships, and finished the run like veteran road wagons, albeit several of the cars were doing road duty for the first time. The soldier boys voted the trip a g-andiose affair, and professed great admiration for the Chalmers autos and I also for the man and the firm who j placed them at their service. |
