Cliff Ireland Works Out. Cliff Ireland, a veteran millionaire baseball nut of fifty-seven summers, paid us a visit today. He is a lifelong friend of Skipper Herr. Cliff always carries his baseball uniform and this afternoon ha was assigned to play second base for the regulars. Ireland is an idol among ball players hereabouts and despite hla advancing years is no slouch of a ball player himself. Manager Herr was in telephonic communication com-munication with Lefty Leverenz today. The report on the conversation is that Lefty will arrive .Monday. He told .the skipper he needed a few more days to straighten out some business matters, and also he is slated to pitch a game tomorrow to-morrow for a San Francisco local club. He solemnly assured Manager Herr that he was in condition. Maggert in Camp. llarlev Maggert arrived this evening. Ho reports himself in top form, and he certainly looks it. He will be the club's lead-off hitter and will play center field. Tomorrow the Bees meet the Pittsburg club, of which Bill Steen is the guiding spirit. Bill will fling for the Pittsburgers and will be assisted in the slab work by Walter Reisigl, formerly a Seal pitcher. Red McKee will do the hackstopping. Probably Cliff Marklo and Gene Caldera will appear for Salt Lake. These two lingers are almost in 100 per cent condition. con-dition. There were a few casualties in camp today. Red Conkwright tried to stop a pitch with his finger and the member is now all nicety decorated with iodine. Ernie Johnson scraped a square yard of hide off his leg in sliding, and. the Rev. Elmer I. Goshen was hit with batted balls twice, once in the ribs and once In the outfield. All the patients are reported re-ported in a fair way of recovery. Weather Turns Cold. The weather turned cold and windy this afternoon and the scheduled nine-inning game was cut to six. While no direct word was received from Pitcher Bob Steele today, Manager Herr got a message mes-sage from Garry Herrmann of the Cincinnati Cin-cinnati club, through whom the deal was engineered, saying that Cincinnati would make good on the Rath deal, either with satisfactory players or by cash. This seems to indicate that the Reds Intend to keep Morrie. It has been practically decided that the Bees will entrain for Salt Lake at II- 45 o'clock next Thursday forenoon, arriving ar-riving in Zion Friday night at 7:35.
