AI, though the friends of Senator Brady in this city have known that as a result of the maturing of his large waterpowe." and mining Investments he had become a millionaire, few were aware that he had acquired a fortune which is variously estimated at from two to five millions. Soon after coming to Idaho about twenty years ago. Senator Brady interested inter-ested himself in the development of it-rigation it-rigation and power projects. He was t one time the' owner of the first hydro, electric plant to supply Pocatello with light and power by the use of the m. ters of the Portneuf river. The old gen. ertaing station and part of the dam are still in existence, although the site has been abandoned. Later he made filings on the Snak river at Anierican Falls and constructed what is now the largest electric generating generat-ing plant in southern Idaho, The flow of the river at this point is capable of generating 35.000 horsepower of electric energy,, and it is now being used by the Idaho Power company as part of its southern Idaho system. Although his home in this city is surrounded sur-rounded by large and attractive g-unds, it is a comparatively unpretentious ture. Several years ago he purchased part of the estate of Senator George 4 Nixon of Nevada, including the impos- f ing mansion and fourteen acres of I ground. The purchase price is said to ' have been more than $200,000, to which Senator Brady added much in impnj ments. Including a $25,000 garage, in According to reports from Washington, the widow and tw-o sons of Senator Brady have thus far been unable to locate lo-cate any will anfong his effects at the Trust company, where it was thought to have been deposited.. It is said that search will be continued by the open(ns of safety deposit boxes, which he kept at two local banks in this city. |
