Show OGDEN HARD CIDER TO BE UNDER BAN Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Jan. 22. The ban on hard cider is to be placed on the beverage here, according to the announcement ot the health department, which announces that the state chemist had found the cider sold in the soft-drink establishments to contain 2.93 per cent alcohol. The action against permitting the sale of cider comes as the result of the statement state-ment of Judge George S. Barker of the municipal court, who wa.s becoming alarmed at the number of "hard cider" drinkers who were facing him almost daily. The court suggested an investigation and samples of the cider were sent to the state chemist for analysis. The next step toward putting the ban on the cider will probably be left to the members of the sheriff and polk! departments. |
